If you have been reading the blog for a while, you’ll know we are fans of Seeds Family Worship here in the Vicarage, especially their kinetic typography videos. I just came across a couple of new videos they’ve done. Maybe not quite as fancy as the early ones, but still brilliant for teaching memory verses – at home, in Junior Church or Kids Club, in school assembly or even with the full church family on a Sunday.
The first one is John 16:33 – Take heart
And the latest production – just out this week- is Hebrews 4:12 – The Word of God
Thanks for this – I’ve been looking for ways to disciple our kids at home. Neither I nor my husband were raised as Christians so have no experience in this field – it seems like we’re still learning the basics ourselves sometimes! How would you use these videos? Our kids are 9, 7 &5.
PS Thanks for the Jesse Tree idea – kids loved that at Advent last year!
Hi Sarah and welcome to the Vicarage!
Our three kids are similarly age spaced (currently 13, 11 & 9) and we too are making our home discipleship programme up as we go along. We have a variety of devotional books we use irregularly at tea time, which is when we (generally) all manage to sit down together. On those occasions we also sometimes play one of these videos on our kitchen computer. We’ve had the Seeds cds in the car for ever so the kids know most of the songs already.
We don’t impose compulsory singing but often we join in with the song and maybe chat about the verse. It’s getting trickier as we range into teenage years, but video songs and clips are quite popular with the kid and can stimulate conversation.
Lovely to hear that your kids enjoyed the Jesse Tree. Hope you continue to find good ways to bring the Word to life in family life.
