We had Sainsbury’s yoghurts for pudding yesterday. Too tired even to make Easy Peasy Elegants. I bought their Basics yoghurts as an experiment on my last expedition to the Savacentre. They offer 2 strawberry and 2 peach low fat yoghurts for 15p. Yes, 15p! I reasoned that I could afford to throw them out if they were inedible.
But they weren’t. Astonishing. And they can’t be made in China. It’s too far to transport them. So those will be going in the Vicarage trolley again. Just thought I’d share the frugality wisdom. So you can spend the spare change on chocolate or gin or something.
I’ve seen them but always assumed they would taste awful due to price. Will give them a go always like ideas to save pennies. Thanks Sara xx
Re your recent tweet in the side bar, they’re probably not the same ones, but there’s a set of talks by Mike on Trinity on theologynetwork.org. I think they were from a UCCF staff conference, actually, so might be just slightly less accessible, but he’s good generally!
Thanks étrangère. I’ve just had an offer from a kind friend on Twitter to send them to me, so I don’t need them now! I love the internet.
Hi Sara. Enjoy the yoghurts!
Thanks! Useful tip 🙂
I recommend the chocolate mousse too! 🙂
I started buying their cheap chocolate bars at one start (27p), and they were fine initially, and helped stifle the chocolate cravings. I didn’t eat as much of them, either. But I ended up going back to Cadbury in the end, which were simply better tasting.
Hi LB, Siobhan and Roger. Good to see you all.
The chocolate mousses are indeed delicious and only 25p for the set of four. They are a Vicarage fridge staple. Even Happy, who studied gastronomy, is keen on them.
I buy those cheapy bars for cooking – they’re great for cakes. And the Vicar snaffles the white chocolate if he thinks I’m not looking.
