There were 115 minister’s wives at the conference I attended last week. It made me wonder what the collective noun for such a gathering would be:

And we're all as glamorous as Elisa too!
- An encouragement of vicar’s wives?
- A chatter of pastor’s wives?
- A manse of minister’s wives?
- A hoot of parson’s wives?
- A Sunday lunch of clergy wives?
What do you think?
Definitely a hoot! I was with 37 clergy wives myself recently and we had a real hoot in among the blessings and prayers of being together!
hi
Have been lurking a while, but never commented before the last post…………
please can you email me if you are interested – i’m wondering whether we could pair up our schools?
it might be a great way to boost reading AND writing !

I’ve been thinking of something for this all day. The best I’ve got so far is a Serving.
A shiver? A push? A worry? Or even……a bossiness?
A ‘Gilet’…you’ll know why!
Hi all – thanks for the comments. My fave is ‘hoot’ btw. Alex – have been driven to posting about your idea!
I think a parliament does the trick.
Hi Bob. But we’re all unpaid! And we don’t get expenses either.
Clergy Spice of course. (plural of spouses)We are necessary to liven up the fellows, and also the congregations. At our clergy wives conference we denude the local (posh) charity shops and do a fashion parade of our bargains.
Welcome to the Vicarage, Daffers. Our diocesan spouses thing is called Clergy Spice, and there are some excellent charity shops in Market Harborough, near where I go conferencing. I’ve picked up many excellent items over the years. Not been brave enough for a fashion parade, tho’!
